Witness the stunning sunset over this vast landscape. You are truly in Australia’s Outback. Flying time—2 hours 20 mins.
Accommodation: Mungo Lodge
Our plane takes us over the Menindee Lakes to the Outback mining town of Broken Hill. Explore the dusty streets of nearby Silverton, made famous by the Mad Max movie. Gain an insight into the harsh realities of mining a century ago as we explore a former underground silver mine. What better place to view the golden hour but at the Living Desert Reserve with its massive sculptures surrounded by endless flat terrain. Flying time—1 hour.
Accommodation: The Astra - boutique accommodation in an historic hotel in the heart of the Silver City
The surrounding unique Outback landscape of Broken Hill has always been a magnet for artists and art lovers so a visit to Pro Hart’s Gallery is a must. Before departing we visit the interactive Royal Flying Doctors’ Museum, showcasing an important part of our pioneering history. Enjoy Outback scenery from our unique aerial perspective as we fly to our next destination - the historic gold rush town of Milparinka, where we can taxi to the front door of the pub for an afternoon refreshment. Amongst the arid landscape and remarkable granite rocky outcrops we land at the remote Outback post of Tibooburra in Corner Country. You cannot miss the extraordinary Clifton Pugh mural in the bar of the popular watering hole of the Family Hotel. This evening we are dining across the road in the sandstone Tibooburra Hotel, dating back to the gold era of 1882. Flying time—1 hour via Milparinka for a pit stop.
Accommodation: Tibooburra Hotel
Today our plane takes us to the Outback town of Louth where we enjoy a drink at Shindy’s Inn, overlooking The Darling River, then take an Outback dirt track to Trilby Station, a family owned 320,000 acre sheep station. This overnight stop focuses on offering the true Australian Outback station experience, gaining insight into life on a remote sheep property. Immerse yourself in the landscape, appreciating a bush sunset with drinks and canapés. Over a home cooked dinner under the stars you will hear about life on the station from fifth generation farmers, The Murray Family. Flying time—1 hour 10 mins.
Accommodation: Trilby Station
Wake up in peaceful and serene Outback surroundings and take a morning walk along Trilby’s ten kilometre walking track beside The Darling. Walk with the wildlife…smell the bush. You are a world away from the Big Smoke. After a country cooked breakfast, our host Liz will take us on a walking tour to see the state of the art shearing shed and impressive aircraft hanger. A traditional shearer’s morning tea, Smoko, is waiting for us at the neighbouring historic Dunlop Station. This was the first sheep station in the world to use mechanical shears and our host Kim is keen to share its fascinating history. We will also tour the homestead, dating back to 1886. Departing the Outback with a deeper connection to the bush spirit of Australia, we fly to our final destination. Mudgee is a foodie’s paradise and our country’s oldest wine region. Tonight we will enjoy some fine dining in this refined country township, with its heritage streetscapes. Flying time — 1 hour 50 mins.
Accommodation: Perry Street Hotel
For our final day we venture out into the glorious rolling hillsides to visit some award winning wineries and sample their stunning produce. With more than 40 cellar doors in the region, we have hand picked what we consider the best. What better way to end our trip over a farewell lunch in this gourmet Mecca and treat ourselves to the region’s famed local produce. After an indulgent day of eating and drinking in style, relax as our private plane returns us home to Sydney. Flying time—45 mins.

About Phil Hines
Phil (pictured in plane) has been flying since 1990 and holds licences for both fixed wing and rotary aircraft as well as a commercial helicopter licence. He has flown multi engine charters, scheduled Regular Public Transport flights, and also has agricultural ratings in both aeroplane and helicopters. Outback and bush flying has been a big part of his aviation history and he has placed second in the Royal Flying Doctor Service Outback Air Race - twice! There’s barely a patch of our great land he hasn’t seen from the air. Safe to say he knows his stuff.
On top of all that he’s just a bloody good bloke – a cheerful ‘salt of the Earth’ type from a farming background with plenty of tales to tell. A great host!
