Beginning in hip Bogotá you'll experience a city reborn as you discover street art, cutting edge gastronomy and trendy boutiques, then head to Los Llanos - a 550,000-sq-km flooded grassland and savannah biome that is often dubbed the Serengeti of South America. Here you'll spot the capybaras, jaguars and caiman which are thriving as part of a conservation project, and spend time with the area's barefoot cowboys as you wrangle cattle and explore the plains by 4x4 or on horseback.
Heading north to the Caribbean coastline you'll arrive at La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the highest coastal mountain range in the world, which boasts magnificent beaches, tropical rainforests and snowy mountain peaks all within a few miles of one another. Here you'll horseride pretty trails, hike through verdant coffee plantations and visit the indigenous groups that inhabit this region and have maintained their cultures and traditions for thousands of years.
Finally you'll arrive in picture-perfect Cartagena with its bougainvillea-draped mansions and colourful cobblestone streets to unwind, drink some rum, eat fresh ceviche and soak up the warm Caribbean culture.

of Colombia’s history, culture, and current socio-political reality. Visit a market to taste exotic fruits from the Amazon, then dine in one the
city's most exciting new restaurants.
Take a quick flight (1 hour) to the extensive Orinoco savannah of Los Llanos. On landing, visit the small town of Yopal where there is a fabulous hat shop perfect for kitting yourself out ahead of your adventure. Head to the stylish tented Corocora Camp, then venture out to find capybaras, deer, tapirs, monkeys, alligators and over 400 bird species either on horseback or by 4x4. Learn all about the conservation projects in action and join a tracking expedition to find jaguars and anacondas. Experience the life of 'llaneros', Colombian cowboys, learning how to lasso, corralling cattle, and using melody to call and ease cattle. Join them in galloping across the plains then, as dusk falls each night, gather round the campfire to exchange stories to the soft sound of a guitar.
Fly to Santa Marta airport (1.5 hours) to arrive at the highest coastal mountain range in the world. Enjoy early morning yoga sessions and join a guide

indigenous community, then tour a local coffee hacienda and participate in the coffee harvesting process.
Take a quick flight to Cartagena (1 hour). Enjoy a private tour of the colonial city with a historian who will recount the swashbuckling stories of pirates and the history behind the colourful colonial houses of the Old City. Visit the African town of Palenque, founded by escaped slaves in the 1603, and take some time to simply wander at leisure - shopping, drinking rum or coffee and soaking up the Caribbean culture. Jump on a boat to go island hopping in the Rosario Islands archipelago and enjoy snorkelling on coral reefs, scuba diving on shipwrecks and swimming in the sun. Take to a fishing boat to go deep-sea fishing, then have your catch personally prepared for you by a top chef.
