Starting in the Daintree Rainforest you’ll hide away in a luxurious eco retreat, enjoying spa treatments, river drift snorkelling, yoga, and the soothing sounds of mother nature. Heading inland you’ll arrive on a secluded 28,000-hectare heritage property, known for its gold mining and pastoral history. You’ll experience the goodness of rural life, dining on the produce of the land and taking in the grandeur of the rugged landscape.

Finally, you’ll travel to Haggerstone Island – one of the most remote destinations in Australia which, for the ultimate castaway experience, can be booked entirely on a private basis meaning there would be no one on the island but you. You’ll spend your days soaking up the bliss of island life, taking helicopter rides to isolated swimming waterfalls, spearfishing for lunch off a deserted cay, sipping champagne on the sand dunes at sunset, snorkelling, walking and soaking up the tonic of nature in solitude.

8 DAYS IN REMOTE RETREATS

DAY 1 | DAINTREE RAINFOREST | 2 NIGHTS

Arrive in Cairns and head straight to the Daintree Rainforest where you’ll check in to a luxurious eco retreat, secreted in the dense tropical jungle. Allow yourself to slow, practise yoga, indulge in a long, unhurried spa treatment, swim in natural pools or sink into a deep bath and simply allow the sounds of the forest to still your mind.
Join a guide for a half day of river drift snorkelling, allowing yourself to drift with the current as you explore life under the water’s surface. Keep your eyes peeled for turtles.

DAY 2 | MT MULLIGAN | 2 NIGHTS

Take a helicopter (or drive if you prefer) approx 200kms inland to Mount Mulligan, which bears the ghostly marks of the historic gold rush and is now a working cattle station. Stay in a luxurious and effortlessly stylish outback lodge, which sits beneath a spectacular sandstone escarpment. Enjoy guided tours of the former goldfields and abandoned township, ATV adventures, chef-prepared gourmet picnic hampers, hiking the escarpment, wildlife spotting, sunset drinks overlooking the escarpment, stargazing, Barramundi fishing in the weir and, if you wish, lend a hand with the day-to-day operations of the cattle station.

DAY 4 | HAGGERSTONE ISLAND | 4 NIGHTS

Head back to Cairns, take a flight to Weipa, then board a boat for a 20 minute private transfer to Haggerstone Island. The difficulty in reaching this island is its drawcard – it is alluringly remote, romantic and absolutely pristine. Spend your days soaking up the bliss of island life, taking helicopter rides to isolated swimming waterfalls, spearfishing for lunch off a deserted cay, sipping champagne on the sand dunes at sunset, snorkelling, walking and soaking up the tonic of nature in solitude. For the ultimate castaway experience, the entire island can be booked on a private basis meaning there would be no one there but you.
