South America buzzes with incredible biodiversity, cultural vibrancy and gastronomic passion. A chequered history of ancient culture, European colonisation, immigration and new world influences has left its mark and the result is a rich melting pot of culinary delight.
This handcrafted journey weaves its way through the cultural nuances of the continent and its cuisine. Beginning in Chile, you’ll explore the bohemian suburbs of Santiago before heading to the trendy port city of Valparaíso where emboldened young chefs are turning the culinary scene on its head. Heading to Argentina you’ll relax into the ambience of Mendoza’s winelands, experience the work of iconic ‘Siete Fuegos’ chef Francis Mallmann, and enjoy an exclusive invitation to dine at the private estate of esteemed winemaker Alejandro Vigil. Moving to Buenos Aires you’ll begin to appreciate the elegant poise of fine dining in a cosmopolitan city harmoniously blended with the richness of life on a rural estancia. A day spent in Tigre slows the pace as you take to the gentle canals by boat and dine on the private island of El Descanso. Rounding your journey off you’ll leave the tourist spots behind for the winding alleys and hidden hotspots of Lima, discovering the colourful produce markets and many local hang outs, each bursting with flavour.
Throughout the safari, a handpicked selection of the finest boutique accommodation, art hotels and luxurious wine estates will ensure you experience the very best of South American hospitality. Travelling with renowned chef Christine Manfield will deepen your appreciation as she explains and interprets the culinary processes at work. Her personal connections allow you access to prestigious private properties and 'closed door' restaurants as well as meetings with esteemed chefs, winemakers and artisans. These experiences are not available to the public and are completely unique to this safari.
South America presents a fiery clash of cultures where sophisticated fine dining meets rustic rural goodness and the purity of the land sings
through the quality of the produce. This bespoke, one-off journey will showcase the region's rich heritage and open your eyes to one of the most
exhilarating culinary destinations on the planet.
