Southern Mozambique & Bazaruto
For centuries Southern Mozambique has been influenced by a vibrant blend of African, Arabic and Portuguese influences and more recently
it has seen a new arrival to its shores - the discerning traveller, seeking and discovering the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. Southern
Mozambique offers first class diving, surfing, big game fishing, whale watching and the opportunity to swim with dolphins and whale sharks. The
small, vibrant coastal town of Vilanculos, 700kms from the Mozambique capital, Maputo is the gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago - undoubtedly Southern
Mozambique's main attraction. This glittering cluster of five tropical islands, Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, Santa Carolina and Bangue, command
some of the most pristine coral reefs in the Indian Ocean and are often referred to as Africa’s version of the famed Galapagos Islands. The area is
protected as a conservation area and national park making it the only official marine reserve in the country. A nearly untouched paradise the
archipelago has earned its reputation as the 'Pearl of the Indian Ocean'.
