Nairobi is the safari capital of the world and gateway to the treasure trove of safari experiences on offer in Kenya. A thriving, vibrant city it has plenty to offer, from the original home of Karen Blixen where she wrote her famed memoir 'Out of Africa' to an intriguing National Museum. The Daphne Sheldrick Sanctuary provides an opportunity to view orphaned elephants at close quarters, whilst the nearby Giraffe Centre is home to endangered Rothschild giraffes that can be handfed, and kissed if you dare. Nairobi is the only capital city to boast a National Park within its boundaries where zebra, giraffe, big cats and even black rhinos roam, and the shopping is incredible with buzzing markets, tribal stores and small boutiques showcasing many of Africa's leading designers. Often bypassed Nairobi is a dynamic city that given the chance will really impress.
