Connecting Quito in the Andes to Guayaquil on the Pacific Coast
Tren Crucero (The Cruise Train) is an enchanting vintage train journey that takes you on an unforgettable voyage through Ecuadorian heritage, culture and scenery. Travel along a historic railway line that connects Quito in the high Andes with Ecuador’s lush coastal plain via the Avenue of the Volcanoes and some of Latin America’s most spectacular scenery.
This four day - three night expedition is undertaken in a refurbished heritage train pulled, wherever possible, by a magnificent 100-year old steam engine. Up to 54 passengers are accommodated in two luxurious carriages accompanied by a coffee and beverages lounge and an observation car with an outside viewing platform. All meals are taken off the train in local restaurants and overnight accommodation en-route is provided by three traditional hacienda-style hotels, adding to the delights of this amazing journey. A highly trained Train Manager and his English and Spanish speaking crew of guides and hospitality staff will accompany you throughout the journey, taking care of your every need. The Ecuadorian landscape changes constantly and passengers will experience the whisper of distant volcanoes, mysterious snow-capped mountains, Ecuador’s fertile coastal plain with banana, pineapple, cocoa and sugar-cane plantations, astonishingly deep valleys and steeping mountainsides.
The Ecuadorian weather is always gentle and spring-like but it is the kindness and the hospitality of the local people that you will meet on this journey that will stay in your memory the longest, making Tren Crucero truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Wind your way from Quito high in the Andes to Guayaquil down on the Pacific coast, the starting point for Galapagos Island adventures.
