The Deccan Odyssey
The romance of rail travel
The Deccan Odyssey is a luxury train bringing the romance of rail travel and the opulent elegance of a bygone era to modern day India. With six routes available taking in some of India’s most iconic sights, prime wildlife areas and remotest regions, it offers a glimpse of India that few tourists see, and even fewer will experience in such elegant style!
The train comprises 21 luxuriously appointed coaches of which 11 are dedicated guest suites complete with en suite bathrooms and private butlers. Each is wonderfully spacious (Deluxe cabins are 9m² and Presidential suites are 18 m²) and decorated to reflect a particular era of the Deccan milieu. Facilities on board include a comfortable sitting lounge, a bar, a gym and a rejuvenating health spa. Two multi-cuisine restaurants, Peshwa I & Peshwa II, serve an impressive menu of Indian, oriental and continental delicacies, served by stewards in traditional Maharashtrian attire.
The train’s routings have been carefully designed to offer diversity, depth and efficiency. Within the space of a week, the journeys take in bustling cities, iconic monuments, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, vineyards, forts and palaces, sun-kissed beaches and tranquil backwaters. Wildlife is also encountered with the opportunity to see tigers and rare Asiatic lions in their natural habitat.
Inspired by the imperial carriages used by the Maharajas of a range of different royal eras and dynasties, a journey aboard the Deccan Odyssey transports you back in time and presents a unique opportunity for luxurious Indian travel.
