Shakti Ladakh River Journey
Meander through Ladakh
If you thought the Shakti Ladakh Village experience couldn't get any better, then think again. Only available in conjunction with the village experience is the 'Shakti Ladakh River Journey'. This journey explores the Shayok river valley, one of the traditional Silk Routes where traders would use rafts made of animal skins to cross the river. Although you will use modern river rafts, this experience is not qualified as white water rafting as the water is not more than grade two rapids.
Passing between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges, through the Nubra Valley and on to Deskit, you will witness incredible scenery including snowcapped mountains, dramatic rock formations and high altitude desert. The famous sand dunes of Deskit, are far more reminiscent of the Sahara than the Tibetan plateau and come complete with a resident population of the double-humped Bactrian camel. The camels are left over from a time when the Nubra valley was on a major trade route to Central Asia.
Accommodation is a private tented camp at Shayok, followed by Nubra on the second night finishing at Stok Village House. You will be spoilt along the way with picnic stops where you can soak up the gorgeous rural Ladakhi scenery whilst enjoying delicious food prepared by your chef.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included for this three night unforgettable journey.
