Luxury train travel
There is no finer way to see the country than on board the luxurious Rovos Rail train. The rebuilt wood-panelled coaches offer Victorian styled accommodation of unmatched luxury and space, allowing one to enjoy the 1600 km meander from Pretoria to Cape Town. The service on board is exemplary with gourmet dining and fine wines served whilst the magnificent scenery unfolds.
The 48 hour journey takes you over the grasslands of the gold-rich Highveld to the haunting barrenness of the Great Karoo before trundling through the spectacular mountain ranges and scenic wine lands of the Cape. The journey’s end is Cape Town, the Mother City of South Africa, cradled by the imposing bulk of Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak and Lion’s Head. Highlights of this route include a visit to the historic village of Matjiesfontein; an authentic perfectly preserved 1890s Victorian Village. Another stop is made in Kimberley providing an opportunity to enjoy a visit to the Diamond Mine Museum and the world’s largest man-made excavation, the Big Hole.
