one of the most sought after & experienced guides in Botswana
Roger is Kenyan born, but moved to Botswana in the early 70's with his parents. His father was a big game hunter in East Africa and throughout Roger's schooling he spent many holidays on the road with him, setting up camps across Botswana, Zimbabwe & Zambia. Whilst growing up in Maun he was left to his own devices - days were spent on the banks of the Thamalakane river fishing, exploring, learning the art of poling mekoros and awakening his sense of adventure. After leaving school he left war torn Zimbabwe and completed a Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship in South Africa, but always knew he would return 'home' to Botswana. Initially he worked supplying hunting camps throughout the Okavango Delta and it was here he met the infamous Jack Bousfield who offered him a position trapping birds - a new adventure that allowed him to explore more of his beloved country. Three years later the Kalahari Kavango Safari company was born, with Jack's son Ralph Bousfield and brothers, Roger & David with the aim to carry on with the expeditionary tradition of their fathers. As time passed each went on their own way with Ralph running Uncharted Africa Safaris, David, the super little camp, Meno a Kwena and Roger, his own mobile safari operation, Roger Dugmore Safaris. In keeping with the tradition of the original safari concept he moves his camps to where the action is. His tented safaris encompass the classic, old fashioned way of travelling through the African wilderness - unrushed whilst imparting extensive knowledge of some of the most striking areas in Botswana.
