Located in the gently rolling Palani Hills of Central Tamil Nadu in South India, Rajakkad estate is a charming boutique hotel. Surrounded by forest and coffee estates and at an elevation of 1000m, it is very peaceful and has a constant climate. The 18th century wooden building comprises of courtyards and pools and is naturally cooled by gentle breezes wafting through louvered screens and doorways. There is a library, a sitting room and a dining room and, whilst Rajakkad provides contemporary comfort, the owners have tried to keep it as simple and authentic as possible. Simple, airy rooms with attached bathrooms surround the main courtyard and each has private access to the garden.
The delicious South Indian and Mediterranean cuisine is produced from locally sourced ingredients daily and there is a small farm which supplies much of the daily requirements. Rajakkad is a place to come and immerse yourself in nature, relax in a hammock or wander through the jungle. It is a birdwatchers dream, due to the number of migratory and indigenous birds which inhabit the estate.
Rajakkad places high importance on its sustainability and strives for minimal impact on the environment.
