Jhira Bagh Palace

The jewel of Malwa

Jhira Bagh Palace is a heritage getaway in Dhar- once the capital of Malwa before Mandu rose to importance. Set within a large estate this elegant palace was originally built in 1865 and has been exquisitely restored to now offer 16 guest rooms and suites complete with vaulted ceilings and charming period interiors.  Dining is on offer in the airy and spacious dining hall where multi-cuisine delicacies are prepared by expert cooks. The dishes are prepared at the palace Kitchen where only organic ingredients grown on the property‚Äôs farm, or supplied from the dairy, are used.

Situated amidst hundreds of acres of land and garden, the Jhira Bagh Palace is the jewel of Malwa and the ideal base for exploring Mandu, the largest fortified city in the world.  Dhar fort, Anand Music College and the Bhojashala Mosque are also nearby.

Graciously designed in an unpretentious art deco style Jhira Bagh Palace is one of the most elegant and forward-looking examples of early modern architecture in north India.

Why we like it

  • Stylish, art deco palace
  • 'Paddock to Plate' dining
