'Jambo, Jambo! Kenya Couture', a safari in our ‘Secret Women's Series' , follows in the footsteps of Camilla Franks' journey through Kenya. Designed by The Classic Safari Company, Camilla's 'design inspiration' journey combined superior wildlife viewing with immersive interactions with the tribal women of Kenya.......and
now you too can experience this incredible magic!
The focus of the safari is style, fashion and understanding the inspiration behind Camilla's fabulous designs, but along the way you will also meet village
elders, visit women’s empowerment projects and witness women at work as they strive to uplift their communities through education and sustainable development.
Escorted by Sarah Hoyland in collaboration with
Andrea Powis - Chief Diva of the fabulous Travelling Divas - you'll
join a small group of like-minded individuals to combine the security and comfort of travelling with others, with the excitement and anticipation
of out-of-the-ordinary experiences.
Travelling to Meru National Park, home to an impressive rhino sanctuary that strives to protect these magnificent and highly endangered creatures,
you will spend time game viewing where Elsa the lion once roamed, before climbing the Laikipia Plateau, noting the stark contrast in the shifting Kenyan
landscape before descending into the Rift Valley to view flocks of flamingos on Lake Nakuru. Continuing south to the world famous
Masai Mara you'll be stunned by the abundance and rich diversity of game - from vast herds of elephant, wildebeest and zebra to big
cats including leopard, cheetah and lion. Undertaking this journey by road offers you a whole new perspective as you pass villages
and communities, stop at road-side markets and visit community‐based organisations, clinics and schools. You will harvest tea with the Kipsigi in Kericho and spend time with the Samburu and Masai listening to ancient stories and learning the intricate details of their culture. Those
with a sense of adventure can horse ride, join a camel train or embark on a guided walking safari to learn to interpret the signs of the bush. Of course
there will also be plenty of time for some R&R including spa treatments and retail therapy. You'll have the opportunity to visit the design studio
of inspirational Kenyan designer Anna Trzebinski and
boutiques such as The Souk which offers treasures from established artists such as a Linda Camm,
jeweller Sally Dudmesh and photographer Mariantonietta Peru.
This is a grass roots, tribal experience interspersed with exceptional game viewing opportunities and a little pampering at our hand-picked collection of luxurious safari camps and lodges. A real adventure in unreal style for women who are truly passionate about whildlife, style and travel!
