Indian Relief Rides
Riding for a cause
Joining one of these epic Relief Rides is a journey like no other. You will take in stunning scenery and remote wilderness, beautiful tented camps, age-old traditions, ancient architecture, wildlife and most importantly, authentic interaction with the people of this rich and colourful land as you ride for a purpose. Traversing some of the most remote regions of India, navigating the dunes and encountering lost temples along the way, the rides brings free dentistry, a free cataract eye surgery program, livestock to below poverty level families and paediatric care to school children in local communities.
There are currently just two rides on offer – the Pushkar Relief Ride (3-17 November 2016) and the Bikaner Relief ride (18 February-3rd March 2017). Both rides will begin in Delhi, where you will spend a relaxed evening in boutique hotel. From there the Pushkar ride will take you into the Thar Desert, onto the town of Kasumbi, known for being an oasis rest stop for pilgrims and traders on the ancient Silk road, through sand dune systems and desert to the flower-filled Aravelli Mountain range, before ending at the world famous Pushkar Camel Fair. Meanwhile the Bikaner ride starts from the beautiful, historic village of Bikaner known for its splendid palaces, beautiful and richly sculptured temples and moves through the land of the conservationist Bishnoi tribe where you will spot Chinkara gazelle, Desert Fox and gambolling baby camels.
These trips not only showcases the stunning natural beauty, the rich culture and the fascinating history of India, it is also the driving force behind authentic, heartfelt and purposeful work – a rare opportunity for a profound, eye-opening and truly life affirming journey.
