Holi 2018 - India's Festival of Colour
A 'Secret Women's Series' journey escorted by Sarah Hoyland
‘Holi - India's Festival of Colour' forms part of our ‘Secret Women’s Series’ – a collection of inspirational journeys designed specifically to take small groups of like minded women to some of the most exotic and inspirational destinations on the planet.
Escorted by Classic Safari Company Director Sarah Hoyland, this
journey will awaken your senses and touch your heart as you join in India's most colourful celebration - Holi.
For the culturally inquisitive, India is a nation of contrasts, a treasure trove of stunning forts, sprawling palaces, diverse landscapes, splendid cuisine, incredibly hospitable people and amazing shopping!
This action packed 14 day journey will guide you through the fascinating cities of Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Narlai, Jodhpur and Mumbai offering a feast for the senses at every turn. We will immerse ourselves in the magic of India, waking to the sound of the muezzin’s call, dining by candlelight in an ancient Stepwell and riding rickshaws and bullock carts like locals. Rising at dawn we will experience 'real' India as the cities wake, witnessing the ‘dhobi wallahs’ commence their day in the open air laundries, wandering through the fragrant flower markets & following the Tiffin Wallahs as they ride the local railways distributing their lunch packages to workers. We will walk through Dharavi Slum - the setting for the movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and meet the inspiring and industrious people at the heart of life here. Of course we will visit the iconic Taj Mahal which is every bit as enthralling as one imagines, especially at the quieter times of sunrise and sunset, and a final shopping foray in Mumbai will round out this fabulous itinerary.
During our time here the streets will explode in a display of riotous colour with the Hindu Spring Festival of Holi. Holi is India’s most
dazzling celebration of life, love and colour and we will be swept up in the mesmerising displays of dance & music which take place on this hugely
significant, joyous day. An unmissable specatcle!
