Estancia La Ernestina
Nature and wildlife
Estancia La Ernestina is a typical working farm located on the most northerly point of the Peninsula Valdes on the Atlantic coast. The farm is set on 15,000 hectares with 20km of coast line with exclusive beach access.
Built in the early 1900’s, it has remained a merino sheep farm since it was set up by the Copello family. The estancia has six cosy rooms overlooking the ocean, with a family dining room and library with an open fireplace all set within the ranch-style building.
Nestled on the tip of Punta Norte, it is a fantastic location from which to explore the coastline and view the array of wildlife in the area. You are likely to spot elephant seals, sea lions and penguins throughout the year whilst calving. You may also see Orca from February to April and through October and November. Enjoy 4x4 trips to watch the sunset or visit the penguin colony numbering over 5,000.
Estancia La Ernestina is a simple estancia but offers unrivalled access to the Valdes Peninsula.
Why we like it

- A traditional working farm
- Exclusive 20km of coastline
- Cozy homestead feel
Best time to visit July to February
Every year between March and April the orcas from Peninsula Valdes come close to shore to hunt South American sea lions on the beach. These orcas have developed the unique technique of intentional stranding.
