Chameleon Hill Lodge
Gorillas in full colour
Located between Mgahinga and Bwindi National Parks, and close to Kisoro Town, in southwestern Uganda you will discover Chameleon Hill Lodge - a place full of inspiration and colour! Situated on an altitude of just over 2.000m, it is the perfect location for safaris to Bwindi and Mgahinga National Parks as well as exploring the Virunga Volcano mountain range.
Rising above the shores of one of East Africa’s most beautiful lakes, Lake Mutanda, you can enjoy spectacular views across this vast expanse of water, dotted with islands and surrounded by hills with the ultimate backdrop on the horizon – the Virunga Volcanoes. The lodge, and each of the chalets, are positioned in a way that the breathtaking views are unobstructed at all times. The spacious dining area with the adjacent wooden deck on top of the hill, offers a bird’s eye view over the lake and beyond. The walls are decorated with colorful art and for those chilly evenings there is a welcoming fireplace to make sure the ambience is perfect. After dinner the lounge area, with it’s stylish and comfy sofas, invites you to enjoy a nightcap from the well stocked bar.
Chameleon Hill has just 10 luxury chalets designed to provide you with privacy and tranquillity. Each chalet flaunts its own identity and color scheme along with high quality, hand made furnishings that boast a unique Euro-African style. All have a private garden and / or verandah where morning tea or coffee is delivered so you can take in the stunning views across the lake before enjoying breakast or heading out for gorilla tracking or any other activity.
Breakfasts are designed to set you up for the day. There is always a selection of fresh fruit, fruit juice, homemade muesli & yoghurt, pancakes with a hint of lemon zest, eggs of your choice and the full fry up with wood-oven baked bread. Moses & Eric are the awesome team that prepare all meals from the best local produce, mostly grown in the lodge’s organic garden. The lodge’s reputation for delicious food has travelled far and wide and is a celebration of the fusion of different cultures, herbs and spices.
As well as being the perfect base to visit the mountain gorillas, you can also enjoy a plethora of activities – from boating on the lake to a walk through the local village, jewellery making and basket weaving to experiencing the local market (Fridays) and joining a family for a traditional lunch. And of course there are the primates! Gorilla tracking, Golden Monkey tracking or a full day gorilla or Golden Monkey habituation experience are also on offer. At the end of the day if you are in need of a little pampering the onsite masseur is also on hand to spoil you.
This exclusive, colorful and vibrant lodge offers a special blend of comfort and relaxation, where attention to detail and personalised service are paramount.
