Set amongst massive stone boulders, ancient coral trees and acacias and overlooking a rocky gorge on the Arugusinyai River Mwiba’s incredible setting really does have ‘wow’ factor. Located in a vast, privately controlled 130,000 acre reserve adjoining the Southern Serengeti, it hosts all the exceptional wildlife of Tanzania’s most famous safari destination but remains quiet and exclusive with only a handful of visitors.

The eight double suites are all designed with an airy, open layout where each room flows into the next and beyond to the great outdoors. The interiors artfully blend rich textural fabrics, suede and timber with a contemporary colour scheme of cream, chocolate and charcoal. The en-suite bathrooms combine traditional canvas walls with copper fixtures, large soaking tubs with private outside showers while huge windows look out onto a private deck, the river below and into the vast African terrain. The main lodge boasts a grey slate-lined infinity pool overlooking three springs which draw a constant parade of wildlife.

Mwiba’s position in the Serengeti offers front row seats for the annual wildebeest calving season and standing among immense herds, surrounded for miles in every direction, you’ll witness the birth of new life before your eyes and the heart-stopping drama of intense predator activity. The leopard population is thriving in the area and phenomenal sightings are virtually guaranteed during 4×4 game drives. Leaving the vehicle to walk with members of the Hadza tribe you’ll experience their daily routine of hunting and gain special insight into the life of this ancient tribe. You’ll also have the option to spend a night under star-studded skies in a truly luxurious fly-camp set up on the escarpment of the Rift Valley, overlooking Lake Eyasi – a breathtakingly beautiful and unforgettable African experience.
