Gabon is a rare and exotic tropical gem. Unlike the extensive savannas of East Africa or the deserts of southern Africa, Gabon is mostly lush, tropical forest with few roads, towns or even trails. No doubt, many species of life are yet to be discovered and described.
Extraordinarily wildlife-rich forests cover 70% of Gabon's landmass, its vast picturesque Atlantic coastline is predominantly wild and unspoiled, and its inland and coastal waters are teaming with myriad species of fish, reptiles and marine mammals. The government of Gabon has made a commitment to protecting many natural areas for ecotourism, but as of yet few tourists have visited the new ecolodges built in some of the most interesting natural areas. Our group will be among the first. This wildlife odyssey is sure to be an amazing adventure featuring opportunities for birding, nature photography and hiking in the unique West African rainforests.
