Cape Winelands & Surrounds
Under an hours drive from Cape Town the Winelands offer a fabulous range of accommodation and exceptional restaurants offering superb fresh, regional cuisine. The 'must visit' towns of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek offer a selection of over 200 cellars to choose from, where you can taste some of the finest wines in the world plus appreciate the traditional Cape Dutch architecture. Indulge yourself for a day or two and experience the rich historical and cultural heritage while visiting quaint villages, antique shops, art galleries and craft workshops. Slightly further afield, Hermanus is a small coastal town set between mountains and the ocean, just an hours drive from Cape Town. Famous for its beach, mild climate and rich flora, it has the added bonus of the best shore-based whale watching in the world. From May to November the southern right whales use the shallow waters of the bay for breeding and mating, all in easy view from the cliff paths above.
