Botswana is largely a wilderness of vast, empty spaces, savannah, desert, wetlands and salt pans. Over two thirds of the country is covered by the magnificent Kalahari Desert, while in the north lies the Okavango Delta, a unique inland river system referred to as the 'Jewel of the Kalahari'. With high standards of health, education and economic prosperity, Botswana is certainly one of Africa's success stories.
Most travellers head to Botswana to visit the Delta, where we recommend both a dry land game viewing experience (in the Moremi Game Reserve, Chief's Island and surrounding delta concessions), and a wet delta experience in one of our preferred camps or lodges. The Chobe National Park is famous for its river, the life blood for huge herds of game, particularly elephant. The Makgadikgadi Salt Pans are huge empty horizons dotted with palm islands, and are guaranteed to provide a unique and eclectic wilderness experience.
