The best of luxury eco-villas
North-east of the Okavango are the Chobe, Selinda and Linyanti areas. The varied habitats created by these river systems make for an essential complement to an Okavango visit. Zarafa Camp is located in the Selinda concession, which lies adjacent to the Linyanti on the western border of the Chobe National Park. The ecology is similar to the Linyanti, but differs in the increased extent of floodplains. Mopane woodland occurs around the nearby Zibadianja Lagoon and in the dry months, enormous elephant herds dominate the landscape. All other species are abundant and the area plays host to a healthy population of cheetah and wild dog. Birding is unique including brilliant flocks of carmine bee-eaters hitching rides on Kori Bustards.
Zarafa Camp has four large, sumptuous tents and their generous verandas are positioned under cool and shady trees with spectacular views onto the Zibadianja Lagoon. The spacious bedrooms have a lounge, ensuite bathrooms with copper baths, indoor as well as outdoor showers, copper heaters for cosy winters as well as their own private pools for summer. The main area is furnished in the same style as the tents and evokes the traditional safari ambiance of the turn of the last century.
Lounge and dining facilities may be enjoyed under canvas or on the full-length deck shaded by giant trees, enjoying the expansive view and the wildlife that passes by. Activities are flexible to suit guests’ interests and include day and night game drives in custom-built 4x4 vehicles. Guided nature walks from camp are also offered. All of the Chobe wildlife is present at Zarafa with an interesting and varied bird life.
