Sarara Safari Camp, Kenya - The Classic Safari Company

Sarara sits within the lands of the Namunyak Wildlife Conservation Trust, an area of approximately 850,000 acres at the southern corner of the Matthews Mountain Range in northern Kenya. This is home of the proud Samburu tribes people, a group of semi-nomadic pastoralists who, with their cattle, have long co-existed with the abundant wildlife here.

Accommodation is in six spacious tents which can all be adjusted for singles, doubles or triples and each has its own en-suite bathroom and open-air shower. The lodge itself offers a large, restful sitting room and dining area for delicious meals in the company of the other guests. There is also a beautiful natural rock swimming pool overlooking a wildlife waterhole, providing a welcome oasis during the heat of the day and the perfect spot to watch the game as it ambles idly by.

During your stay you can enjoy game drives in custom-built, open 4×4 vehicles with knowledgeable guides, escorted game walks, horse rides, hikes into the Matthews forest, climbs to the top of Lolokwe and visits to the fascinating Samburu Singing Wells – a truly fascinating opportunity that you cannot experience anywhere else in Kenya (dry season only). Should you wish you can also visit the local village to interact with the Samburu people or go to Sarara’s outlying Star Camp to spend a night in the wild.

Sarara offers a wild and beautiful safari in this lesser-known area of Kenya, where the dramatic landscape, plentiful game and hospitable people make for an outstanding adventure and endlessly fulfilling safari experience.
