Mama Africa: Botswana, Namibia & Zimbabwe
Big game, iconic landmarks, heartwarming experiences!
‘Mama Africa’ is an in depth safari through Botswana and Zimbabwe escorted by Australian actress Paula Duncan. Journeying through the region’s most prestigious wildlife areas you’ll enjoy phenomenal game viewing as well as visits to schools and community projects and a stopover at the magnificent Victoria Falls.
Paula Duncan is well known as an actress with 7 Logies to her name. Through her charitable work she has been presented with an Australian Achievement Award and an Order of Australia for Outstanding Contribution. Travelling with Paula and her daughter you will gain a deeper insight into ‘giving back’ through small scale, grass roots projects visiting local schools, villages and vibrant rural communities.
The safari will begin in Botswana’s Chobe National Park, known for its large herds of elephants, great concentration of wildlife and beautiful
river frontage. From here you’ll travel to the Caprivi Strip, a thin stretch of Namibia where the confluence of two rivers and where the abundant water-based
fauna is truly impressive. Cross into Zimbabwe to view the magnificent Victoria Falls known locally as the 'smoke that thunders’ and enjoy a
stay at the stunning Gorges lodge.
Continuing to Hwange National Park you’ll enjoy more phenomenal game viewing, coming face to face with the region’s thriving big cat population and abundant big game both on game drives and on foot. During your stay at Camelthorn Lodge you’ll be invited to visit the nearby Chisuma Village to see an individual household and join some of the traditional daily activities such as crushing grain into meal, ploughing the fields and brewing beer. You will also be invited to visit the local school and will be hosted by the headmaster. This opportunity is encouraged by teachers as it is a wonderful way for the school children to meet people from all over the world and learn about different cultures and countries. This visit is spontaneous and authentic, not a tourist attraction, and will offer real insight into the daily life of a typical Zimbabwean rural community.
This one-off, bespoke safari seamlessly blends prolific wildlife, stunning landscapes, iconic landmarks and rare cultural experiences simply not available ‘off the shelf’. Staying at our hand-picked collection of luxurious safari camps and lodges you’ll certainly enjoy a little pampering but the experience remains unpretentious and authentic. This is a real adventure in unreal style travelling with one of Australia’s best loved stars of film and television, Paula Duncan.
