Luangwa Safari House is a stunning private house located on the edge of a seasonal lagoon close to the Luangwa River. The river travels through the South Luangwa National Park, and supports high densities of game throughout the year. Over time, the course has carved a multitude of channels that in winter, form lagoons and oxbow lakes which serve as magnets for game activity.

This is superb game country, with beautifully scenic areas of mopane and ebony woodland as well as open grasslands. Over 60 large mammal species are found including elephant and buffalo, crocodile and hippo and unique subspecies in the Cookson’s wildebeest and Thornicroft giraffe. Lion viewing is also excellent and the area is renowned for being one of the highest leopard densities in Africa.

The Luangwa Safari House is a private villa accommodating 8 guests. The open fronted living room opens onto a quartz tiled terrace with a large plunge pool to one side. From the terrace, a walkway leads to a wooden deck surrounding a small group of ebony trees. From here you can enjoy meals served ‘al fresco’, or sundowners, whilst watching elephant and other wildlife coming to drink and bathe.

Each of the four bedrooms contain ceiling fans and individually styled bathrooms. There is a private kitchen and chef, along with a valet, so meals can be served where and when you like. There is also a private guide and safari vehicle for all game viewing activities.

Activities focus on the Mfuwe Sector’s abundant wildlife viewing opportunities and include game drives, guided night drives and walking. The South Luangwa game walks are considered the best in Southern Africa and are led by a qualified guides and an armed game scout.
