Remote, private wilderness for those in the know!
Lamai Camp in the northern Serengeti sits tucked amongst the rocks high up on the Kogakuria ‘Kopje’ (small isolated hill), with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, and just a few miles from where the Wildebeest cross the Mara River in the annual Migration. For roughly a quarter of the year, between late July and October, this is where you'll find the migration and for the rest of the year one can enjoy the resident herds of Zebra and Wildebeest as well as a great variety of other wildlife.
The 12 rooms are designed to fit into the complex geometry of the kopje and to make the most of this sensational location, its views and its natural space and light. The rooms are split between two entirely separate lodges, the Main Lodge of 8 rooms and our smaller Private Lodge of 4 rooms. Each site has been carefully thought out with the elements in mind, to take maximum advantage of the view, the sun, the wind and even the rain, welcome when it comes. The rooms are a clever blend of canvas, plaster and natural poles, each site is designed such that to the casual eye you won't see that there is anything there.
At Lamai, you can be as busy as you like with game drives and walks morning and night, or you can be as lazy as you, like enjoying the Serengeti from the privacy of your room or beside the swimming pool with a drink in hand.
