Vietnam is a country of fascinating history, French and Dutch influence, fresh flavourful cuisine, sweeping white beaches and UNESCO world heritage sites. Energetic urban environments teem with noise, people and scooters while rural areas are green and peaceful, iconic waterways bob with slow moving boats and the peaceful religion of Buddhism offers contemplative quietude.

'Essence of Vietnam' takes you to the heart of Vietnamese culture, both modern and ancient. Escorted by you ‘leading lady’ Andrea Powis you’ll begin in the commercial centre of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) where you’ll explore the buzzing city by vintage jeep, visit the wartime Củ Chi tunnels and enjoy cocktails in a small jazz club owned by a famous Vietnamese saxophone player. Moving to Hue you’ll experience Buddhist culture and explore the UNESCO listed Imperial Citadel by Vespa before continuing through the countryside to the beautiful city of Hoi An. Here the historic ochre coloured streets are lit with traditional lanterns and highly skilled tailors will create brand new outfits for you in a matter of hours! You’ll sail a bamboo basket-boat on the Co Co River to visit Thanh Dong village which is the first and only organic farm in Hoi An. Ending the journey in Hanoi you will have time to explore the network of ancient streets and colonial buildings, shop for souvenirs, buy produce at local markets ready to participate in a cooking class and visit the private traditional stilt house of Dao Anh Khanh, a well-known Vietnamese artist.

Throughout the journey you will enjoy all the hallmarks of a Secret Women’s Series journey including a handpicked collection of stylish boutique hotels, exquisite dining, time for some R&R and pampering at your luxury hotels and of course a glass of bubbles or two in the company of your fellow travellers.

Those who wish to extend their journey can enjoy a cruise extension into Halong Bay. Please contact us for further details.
