Chongwe River Camp
On the Zambezi & Chongwe River junction
Chongwe River Camp is situated on the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers, directly opposite Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools. The Chongwe River is the boundary of the Lower Zambezi National Park. The camp itself looks onto the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi rivers and the mountains of the escarpment to the north. The chalets are large, well-appointed Mulati tents under thatch, each with a luxury open-air bathroom. Situated under a canopy of Albida thorns and surrounded by cool lawns, they command fabulous views over the Rivers. The bathrooms are an experience on their own, open air with fittings made from natural materials found near the lodge.
There is so much to do at Chongwe River Camp. The game viewing is exceptional, and few other places can give you the choice of game drives in open safari vehicles, guided walking, canoeing or motor boating. Fishing is also a popular option. Be sure to stay for a few days to take advantage of all these opportunities and remember also to allow time just to relax and enjoy the views from the camp.
Both day and night drives are available and groups can plan their activities around their preferences. Walking adds an extra dimension to your game viewing and also gives the chance to appreciate the beauty and tranquility of the bush.
